McKinzie also oversees public relations efforts for Nevada Energy Star Partners, a coalition of several homebuilders and Southern Nevada businesses that promote Energy Star homes, appliances and programs. McKinzie was also an integral part of the account team that helped oversee the highly successful opening of the $1 billion dollar Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa in April 2006.

In the community, McKinzie volunteers her professional services to the Multiple Sclerosis chapter of Southern Nevada and currently serves on the Pinnacle Awards Committee for the Las Vegas chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. In November 2007, McKinzie was named the Public Relations Professional Newcomer of the Year at the PRSA Southern Nevada Chapter Pinnacle Awards.
