Twenty students from Cashman and Orr Middle Schools in Las Vegas recently got the chance to learn about nature in the best way possible – first hand.
Read the notes the students shared on their experiences! The field trip took them to the Las Vegas Bay Bluff Trail and the Las Vegas Boat Harbor in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Field trips like these are made possible through the After-School All-Stars Las Vegas Lifetime Adventures Program.

The Water Conservation Coalition is working with E.W. Griffith Elementary School in Las Vegas on a landscape conversion, removing existing turf in the school’s courtyard and creating more usable space by adding shade trees, seating and drought tolerant plants. As part of the renovation, the WCC project converted a vacant space into a vegetable garden with new shrubs, trees, paver walkway and large raised planters where students can harvest vegetables and herbs.
Nine custom pet homes made by Pardee Homes in Las Vegas and other local builders have new homes following the finale of Project Playhouse Pet Edition June 3 and 4.
Local nonprofit DJs for PJs got a helping hand from the National Junior Honor Society at Faiss Middle School in Las Vegas. The students hosted a charity raffle and helped out at a DJs for PJs event the next day collecting PJs for children in need. The event was sponsored by SuperPawn.
They are a pet’s dream come true – and these pet houses are available through a raffle taking place through June 4, 2011! This is a project spearheaded by Pardee Homes and HomeAid Southern Nevada – proceeds help the homeless.
